Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American photographer and journalist who has been covering wars and natural disasters for over 45 years, focuses on the suffering of those who live in these places. Curry was a journalist in war-zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19th, 1956 in Agana American journalist and TV anchor and news reporter. She is most famous for her work as a correspondent on the Today program, which was a morning news show that was telecast by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Her reporting stood out for her reporting on humanitarian crises occurring in war-torn nations and natural disasters. Curry was born in Japan, and educated by her Japanese mother. Her father served as a U.S. Navy sailor. Following World War II, her parents met when her father served in Japan. Due to her father's military service the family moved quite a bit. Curry completed her high schooling at Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated from high school in 1978 and earned the degree of Bachelor's in Journalism from the University of Oregon. The diversity of her experiences as well as her experiences throughout her childhood may have influenced her empathy approach to communicating about issues of international significance. Curry as well as her husband were frequently moving and she didn't remain in one place for more than 2 years. The couple moved to various locations such as San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland was the location where Curry received her degree. Her first job would lead to a lucrative job by becoming an intern in broadcasting for KTVL Channel 10 Medford. The first female news correspondent at this station, at age 22. In the following years, she worked as an anchor/reporter at KGW located in Portland Oregon. She moved back in Los Angeles four years later working as a journalist at KCBS TV. Through the six years she worked for KCBS the station, she won two Emmy Awards.
